During my student teaching, I was able to involve my students in a community service project in which they made Easter cards for residents at a local nursing home during the moths of Lent. This project started as a center, in which all the students wrote Easter messages and drew colorful pictures to brighten the days of others. Making these cards allowed my students to give back to their community and helped them practice their reading and writing skills at the same time. My students greatly enjoyed making these cards and were very excited to be able to help others as their Lenten project! The residents were also very happy to receive Easter cards and even sent 'Thank You' notes to some of the students!
